Alcorange with a hint of smoked mindiflore: A little comfort for restless minds

A Crestignacian infusion served before Duchifestations, available at local infusioneries. A little comfort for restless minds.

In Crestignac, the infusioneries are preparing to welcome the Duchifestants. With the next Duchifestations approaching, the traditional alcorange and smoked mindiflore infusion is enjoying its customary surge in popularity.

Some traditions require no explanation. In Crestignac, drinking an alcorange infusion with a hint of smoked mindiflore before a Duchifestation is one of them.

In infusionery windows, the large jars of alcorange have returned to their rightful places. Displayed in beautiful glass containers, this amber-orange preparation is appreciated for its gentle character and soothing qualities.

“A little comfort for restless minds,” reads the label.

An infusion for everyone

Unlike certain preparations reserved for special occasions, alcorange can be enjoyed freely, with family, among friends or alone, depending on the circumstances and the degree of restlessness involved.

Children may drink it, as may adults. Elderly people face no particular restrictions, apart from allowing their cup to cool if they find it too hot.

Preparation is straightforward. Some Crestignacians have their own recipes, passed down through generations. Others prefer to obtain their blends from the local infusioneries, where each establishment has its own variations.

All agree, however, on one essential ingredient: smoked mindiflore.

Mindiflore, probably a plant

The precise nature of mindiflore remains a matter of some discretion.

It may be a plant. This widely accepted theory has never been conclusively established.

When questioned on the subject, a Crestignacian infusionerist replied:

“Mindiflore? Yes, of course.”

The statement did not resolve every uncertainty, but it was considered sufficiently reassuring for preparations to continue.

As for the smoked element, it remains essential to the infusion, although the method by which it is obtained is not always specified.

Before a Duchifestation

Alcorange consumption traditionally reaches its peak just before Duchifestations.

At home, cups are prepared. In the infusioneries, fresh blends are assembled. Some establishments even offer special preparations for groups setting off together.

It is therefore common to see Duchifestants sharing an infusion before joining the gatherings.

The custom allows everyone to approach the Duchifestation in the best possible frame of mind.

One Crestignacian, encountered outside an infusionery, told us:

“Before, I was restless. Now, I'm ready.”

He did not specify what for.

A tradition passed down

In Crestignac, alcorange with smoked mindiflore has become part of everyday life.

People give it, prepare it and share it. Some families keep their blends in carefully labelled jars. Others swear by their favourite infusionery.

And when the first Duchifestations are announced, everyone knows exactly what to do.

Put the kettle on.

Take out the cups.

And let it steep.
