La DdC at the Bar du Commerce — A Photo Story

An almost ordinary evening in Crestignac: La DdC heads down to the Bar du Commerce, catches up with Robert and Paulo, puts the world to rights, samples the vulvinettes and rides off on her scooter in the early hours.

La DdC opens the door of the Bar du Commerce in Crestignac.

— Good evening, my friends. It’s good to be here.

Robert welcomes her from behind the counter.

— Ah! The Duchess! Always a pleasure to see you at the Bar du Commerce!

— Robert, a glass of white. Any news from around here?

Paulo arrives in turn.

— DdC! We’ve missed you!

— Paulo, you never change.

Around the counter, the conversation soon turns to loftier matters.

— So, how’s politics in Crestignac?

— The people, my friends, the people. Always the people.

Someone asks:

— And the nouple?

— The nouple is the future. Let’s put prejudice aside.

The famous chocolate vulvinettes are brought out.

La DdC takes one with all the gravity of an official tasting.

— These vulvinettes are divine. Chocolate is the only thing that never disappoints.

Glasses are refilled.

The Duchess raises hers:

— To Crestignac! To friendship, to our differences, to wild ideas and genuine people!

— Paulo, a little music!

— Here we go!

The music starts. Paulo dances. Robert laughs. La DdC, ever the picture of dignity, eventually lets herself be swept along too.

— Life is lovelier at the Bar du Commerce!

The hours pass.

In the middle of the night, La DdC leaves the bar and climbs onto her scooter.

— I’m heading home. Crestignac is always waiting for me.

She disappears down the street.

Behind her, Paulo, Robert and a few regulars lie sprawled on the pavement among abandoned bottles and glasses.

— Paulo… you there?

— Still here…

La DdC, meanwhile, is already far away.

An almost ordinary evening in Crestignac.
